Mako gets this text, and while it is objectively one of the funniest messages he has ever gotten he also has a deep, deep sympathy for Manabu, who gets in his own way at the best of times and who, according to Wu, has some weird ideas about the purpose of dating more at home with Grandma Yin than anything. ]

[ First of all, it's in all-caps, which is weird coming from Manabu in the first place. Must mean this is actually serious. Or someone's taken his Omni but Mako's money is firmly on the first option. ]

[ Second of all, that last mispelled word really implies a certain amount of panic which makes sense—does he think he has to get married now? Is that where this is leading? ]

[ But third, and most important of all, Mako has absolutely been here before and so as much as he wants to laugh at his best friend (and oh he wants to so badly) he buckles down and opts for sympathy. ]

Look, I get it. I went on a bunch of dates I didn't even know were dates and it was a mess. That's why it matters who you're going with and whether you actually want to do it. You don't want to do what I did.

i asked if ryunosuke wanted to go to the archive and see if something i found was related to his home and he said yes
we agreed on a time and i said its a date on accident and hung up

[ It's Ryuunosuke, is it!! That... is pretty cute and also Mako understands maybe more than he would like to about the panic. He remembers the flare of fear and panic when David had asked him out, when he'd been bold enough to say yes and then lay awake for two nights telling himself he was an idiot. ]

What you do about it is answer the questions. Doesn't even have to be to me. Answer to yourself.

Do you want it to be a date-date? If yes, text him and tell him you're looking forward to tomorrow and then tomorrow make sure to tell him it's an actual date. That part's important.

If no, text him and tell him you want to bring a friend. Nobody brings a friend to a date.

Dates are weird. You're just spending time with somebody, mostly. You show up, you try to make the person happy. If you know anything about what this guy likes, try to work that in somehow.

My first date with Wu, he missed Republic City and restaurants, so I got us pizza and set up a picnic. That kind of thing.
